I don't think I'll be watching this.
I'm currently taking my courses to become a licenced drug and alcohol counselor and have been working in the field for 5 years.

I'm not an addictions specialist, but I have worked in the area and seen a lot of these things.
Has anyone seen this show? I've seen the ads, and the only person I recognize is Daniel Baldwin.
I watched the first episode - what a trainwreck, and not in a good way. Jeff Conaway (Kenickie from Grease, Bobby from Taxi) was near death. He was unable to function; confined to a wheelchair, unable to sit upright, and couldn't form coherent thoughts nor words. I enjoy reality shows, but this was too real for me.
As for the rest of the crew, other than Baldwin and Conaway, so far they have
-> Jessica Sierra -- Idol4 finalist and current TMZ.com regular
-> Mary Carey -- porn star who ran for CA governor
-> Brigitte Nielson -- Stallone's ex
-> Chyna -- ex-pro-wrestler
-> Jaimee Foxworth -- cute little girl from "Family Matters"
-> and some random overly-tattooed rocker dude -- get off my lawn, you kids!

Whoa. That guy is Jeff Conaway? That's just sad.

Yeah. That's not what I'm looking for when I want to be entertained.
Thanks Copssister.
I think what's sad for me is that these people really and truly need help - or they will certainly die. And I don't think this is the right way to handle it.

I think the subject matter is way too personal to be on television. I haven't watched any of the regular Intervention show either. I get the impression that it's a serious show (despite the insanity of some of TWoP's posters) with people who are in deep trouble, as opposed to a show like "Scott Baio is 45 and Single". I much prefer my reality television to be in the form of a bunch of skinny young girls crying because they want to be models to bad it hurts. Now that's entertainment.
This show is like a PSA. This is what happens when you do drugs and fuck up your life kids.

I can see that with the Jeff person but Daniel has been clean since 2006 (so he says anyway) and the cute Family Matters girl's addiction is marijuana. Why would a clean person be in rehab? Is he getting paid to be on the show or trying to become recognized in hopes for getting some sort of gig? The same with the pothead chick, seems her big problem is landing roles not that she's dying from her addiction. And Brigette seems to just show up in any reality show that's around. It just a really odd mix of people and problems. I tuned in to see what it was supposed to be about but I don't think I'm interested in watching since some of them really don't seem to be there for help with addictions.
It's just airing up here in Canada.
Jeff Conway should be on a government poster for "this is what drugs do to you". Weed girl needs help and a change in career goals -- porn star wannabee. Maybe a few days with Mary Carey scared her straight. Of all of them, Brigitte appeared to be the only one who had/has a reason for being there -- her kids.
Despite my earlier reservations, I ended up watching this show off and on through the season, and I really liked it. It didn't seem tawdry to me, although some of it was very painful to watch. Dr. Drew is very cool, and he didn't take any crap from anyone.
