Because of the popularity of the show Big Brother, CBS has just recently ordered an eighth installment of the show that will premiere in July 2007.
The much-awaited Big Brother season 8 will continue to have the same format just like previous installments of the show. In addition, the show will continue to be hosted by Julie Chen, wife of CBS Corporation president Les Moonves.
Big Brother, a reality series that showcases strangers who live under one roof equipped with loads of cameras and microphones to document their every move 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The goal of each housemate is to utilize his or her wit, charm, brains and brawns to ultimately win the cash prize. The reality show premiered in 2000 and has aired every summer following its initial run.
So what’s new with the upcoming Big Brother season 8? To begin with, season 8 will launch a “new epoch, ” after the “all star” experience from Big Brother season 7. It will also feature a new set of housemates with new challenges and surprise features to make the show even more interesting. Moreover, the function of Arnold Shapiro, Emmy and Oscar winning actor and executive producer of Big Brother season 1 to 6, has been trimmed down after the previous seasons’ catastrophic results.
Allison Grodner, executive producer of Big Brother who also worked with Shapiro explains that she and Shapiro will embark on new ventures separately. She told Variety, "We consider All-Stars sort of the end of an era, and now we're getting a chance to start once again with a fresh cast and new twists…We're at different stages in our respective careers…It's an amicable split of projects and directions."
At present, the auditions for the housemates of Big Brother season 8 are still ongoing. Deadline for the application is April 13, 2007 but may be extended depending on the producer’s discretion. <br>Oh, RILLY!?!?

Maybe Arnie is taking the fall for the "let's have one of the evicted voted back in by the public" idea. When Kayser was voted out the very same week, it fell flat. Maybe Arnold is pulling a McCartney and has a deal going that he doesn't want to share with Allison. Bring back the butcher knives, genital warts, and NyQuil this summer, Ms. Grodner. We need old school Big Brother crazies this time around.

Your avatar reminds me of how he always tried to be all Michael Corleone when dealing with housemates. That earnest, locked-in eye contact, barely speaking above a whisper, always trying to convince people that he was doing them a favor by allowing them to do his dirty work, the carefully-veiled threats that were always weasel-worded so he had plausible deniability. 1. The theme will be High School Bullies vs High School Bullied. (In other words, season 4 revisited, more or less.) 2. What does that even mean? Are they going to be *in* the house with them as, like, dorm mothers or something? Or are they going to just come in and run "meetings" and games? I don't have any problem with either Will or Janelle. I find them both entertaining most of the time (though they can definitely irritate me just as much or more than any houseguest that I *don't* like), but I just don't know how having them back as a permanent, season long part of the show would go down.

I think if you look at Daniele's face, she has his bone structure but without his coloring, they don't look that much alike. I'm a sucker for reconciliations: I now want Dick and Daniele and Joe and Dustin to repair their relationships and play from that position.
Between Amber and Carol, Amber can go now. First, for crying so damn much, and second, for looking into the camera and telling America that she thought God was a good guy and would do the right thing--which would be to save her from elimination.

floundering -- HamsterTime has a thread this season where recappers condense the days happenings into one post. It's not the most complete feature but when someone does post, it's a good place to go to get an idea if anything really interesting happened without having to wade through all the live recaps.

QUOTE (Gladly+Jul 11 2007, 01:07 PM) Amber can go now. First, for crying so damn much, and second, for looking into the camera and telling America that she thought God was a good guy and would do the right thing--which would be to save her from elimination.
That immediately brought to mind the evil twins from season 5(?) who, along with robotic weisel Erica and lazy Monica were my least favorite players. Amber's melodramatics - I'm a mother! I take care of my family! When I kiss my necklace it's a shoutout! - are old.

Would you guys hate me if I made the following image my avatar? It's like Joe is trying to do his best imitation of Jason Schwartzman in Rushmore.

QUOTE (fofanna1+Jul 9 2007, 11:32 AM) | QUOTE | I hope she gets evicted before we have to see all of her Jen-themed t shirts. No, no, no! She's the most entertaining one in the house --- I give you this: sobbing over her photo and being completely unaware that her sobbing face was much more unattractive than any photo could possibly be. And did she really put a potholder over her photo? Now everyone will think Jen looks like a potholder - how can you not love her? Totally! She, Dick and Jameka are my favorites in the house!
Sorry, but I find Daniele very irksome, needy, whiny, and bratty. Something about her reeks of a ninja stealth bitch from within.

Is it me or does Daniele's brother (Dick's son) and ex-football player look exactly alike?

Not exactly, but I think there was some resemblance, too. I've always heard that girls don't like a guy who reminds them of their brother but maybe Daniele is an exception. Of course any resemblance ended at the chin, Nick's body is about 100 times better. Daniele's brother showed that super skinny runs in the family.
gfm, unless you were making a funny over there, your definition of hideous is about three galaxies apart from mine.
Forgot to add: jedzz, I think Story Lady Joe makes an awesome avatar, one that would frighten small children.

I actually think he looks good for the most part, but those pictures were unfortunate. I cringed looking at them. Guess that's the Tyra in me. Pretty boy....don't know how to model.

Team and roster pics for football players aren't supposed to look pretty. So Evil Dick not only didn't go home after being nominated, he won HOH last night. Then Rachael Ray moved in to the house. Okay, she didn't, but if she had I bet this thread might see some activity. Plus they could have an Evil Evoo Alliance.

Any info on why the Mrs. Robinson alliance changed their plan to vote for Dick? Did they realize they weren't going to win and cave in order to keep the peace?
Which reminds me, people in this game are so infernally stupid about keeping their alliances secret. As I recall, the only ones in seven years who ever carried it off were Jason and Danielle. If Kail and the boys think nobody has sussed out their bloc voting, they're even dumber than I thought.
I get the sense that Joe isn't a very kind person, but I still felt a little badly for him when Dustin completely shut him down when Joe asked for Dustin's vote.

Since I'm so thoroughly spoiled for the actual show, I wasn't posting here. I read the feed updates at Jokers since they were linked here. At this point, I can't even remember what's been shown and what I've read.
I will say I've warmed slightly to Jen. She's a great combination of insecurity and complete lack of awareness how she's being perceived.
Joe didn't bother me all that much, and I loved seeing him correct Mike calling Jen "directive." (You mean "direct.") But Dick and Daniele are an interesting dynamic, so I'm glad they're both still in the house.
I wish Jameka, Amber, Jessica, and Eric would make more of an effort to play.

If Joe had left it at that, he would have made a better impression on me, but since he followed it up by telling Mike to butt out, it was kinda spoiled.
floundering, Nick had already ditched the Mrs Robinson alliance and planned to vote Joe out. Zach wanted Joe out as well, so when he talked to Nick he said he would vote the same way Nick was voting. Kail, of course, was hellbent on saving Joe, but when Mike realized that Nick and Zach weren't going along with her wishes, he decided to switch his vote. The show didn't make it clear at all that Nick's change of direction was what really made Zach and Mike vote to evict Joe. Of course it didn't help Joe's case when both Nick and Zach informed Mike that Joe, in a last ditch effort to get votes, was promising people he'd put Mike and Kail up if he stayed in the house and won HOH.

I am a complete BB dork and usually get the live feeds. My job is keeping my really busy this summer so I haven't had time to even check out the live feeds. Does anyone watch the Showtime feeds? Is it better than the live feeds? How do they show the action?

Pippi, from what I gather reading the recaps on HT, ShoToo shows the same thing the live feeds are showing, except you don't get the quad camera option. I don't have ShoToo, so I haven't been able to compare the two myself.

Thanks, Magpie. I decided that continuing my feeds was money wasted since I barely get to watch them and when I do, the slow loading time, FOTH and time-outs frustrate me. I called to cancel and the Indian customer service rep and I could not understand eachother. We'll see if my cancel request comes through. I'm going to give Showtime a try.

This post doesn't contain any spoilers, but it does talk about the live feeds and those who watch them. I didn't know where to put it, so I hope it's okay here.
I'd like to think it's all for some dramatic effect on the part of posters, because otherwise I would have to figure that a lot of folks on the internet have never seen anything like violent guys in real life.
Nick has been known to take out anger and frustration on a tether ball in the back yard; one night he got a little trashed and tough talked about becoming a badass mofo, then threw a couple of empty beer cans--one at the ground and the other onto an awning.
This has morphed into feed watchers calling him psychotic, full of roid rage, dangerous, too violent to be in the house, etc. This is a guy who seems to spend a lot of his time moping around in bed with or without Daniele, but you'd think he spent his days oiling up his chainsaw and sharpening his ax if you read comments from various feed watchers.
He's never said he wanted to crush the bones in anyone's neck or ass fuck them til they bleed (that would be Dick), he's never used anything that approached a racial slur (that honor goes to Dustin), never got in anybody's face and told them what losers they are (Dick again), yet he's the one singled out as being a probable serial killer.
I can vaguely understand how Eric has managed to convince the paranoid houseguests to buy into this, but I don't understand why people watching the feeds are just as gullible.
